The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team moved up one spot Sunday on the second day of the Mad Dawg Invite to finish third out of 14 teams at Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens Point, Wis.

The Warhawks shaved seven strokes off from their first round total to finish with a 677 (342-335), 14 strokes behind runner-up Viterbo and seven shots ahead of fourth-place UW-Oshkosh. UW-Stout won the tournament.

All UW-Whitewater golfers finished among the top 35 in the 78-player field.

Senior
Claudia Rhein (Racine/Prairie) led the Warhawks with a 165 (85-80), good for a tie for 10th place.

Sophomore
Stephanie Stair (Milton, Wis./Milton) and senior
Sammie Leibham (Sheboygan/North) were close behind. Stair registered a 168 (87-81), good for a tie for 14th, while Leibham finished alone in 16th after firing a 169 (86-83).

Sophomore
Kayla Asleson (Kenosha/Tremper) recorded a 175 (84-91) to place tied for 23rd, while senior
Sarah Bregant (Sussex/Hamilton) rounded out the lineup with a 182 (91-91), good for a tie for 35th.

The UW-Whitewater "B" team finished 10th and was led by freshman
Jess Gruber (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), who carded a 174 (84-90) to place 22nd. Sophomore
Hannah Taylor (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard South) tied for 28th with a 177 (88-89).

Seniors
Kate Winkler (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) and
Vivian Shoemaker (San Jacinto, CA/San Jacinto) tallied scores of 185 (90-95) and 193 (96-97), respectively. Winkler tied for 43rd, while Shoemaker tied for 52nd.

Freshman
Hayley Jefferson (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) shot a 199 (94-105) to finish in a tie for 59th.

The Warhawks begin the three-day Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Friday at noon with a shotgun start at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wis.
