Warhawks Win Two, Improve to 10-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Warhawk softball team wrapped up their spring trip in Florida with two wins to improve to 10-2 this season. A four-run third inning propelled UW-Whitewater over Williams, 5-0, at the NTC Softball Complex in Clermont Thursday morning and UW-W followed with an 8-2 rout of Union.

UW-W posted all four runs with two outs. Mimi Ramirez (Chicago, IL/Trinity) opened the flurry with a single to the shortstop followed by a Laura Eichenold (Elmwood Park, IL/Trinity) single up the middle. Amy Ricci (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) made it three straight singles with a shot through the right side that scored Ramirez. Jo Jablonski (Palatine, IL/Palatine) registered her first homer of the season with a bomb over the center field fence to plate three runs.

The Warhawks added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.

Jablonski was a perfect 3-3 from the batter's box with three RBI. Kelynn Sporer (Chilton/Chilton) and Kelly McGrail (Tinley Park, IL/V.J. Andrew) each added two hits for UW-W. Sporer picked up her fifth win of the season allowing just five hits in seven innings on the mound.

The Warhawks kept the offensive momentum going in the nightcap rattling off 14 hits. Ricci led Whitewater at the plate with a 3-3 performance while nine Warhawks recorded hits in the game.

Bekka Houda (Lisle, IL/Lisle) stifled the Union offense on the mound throwing a complete game five-hitter while striking out eight and walking one to improve to 5-2 this season.

UW-W will return to Wisconsin to face Carroll University Tuesday at 3 and 5.
