The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's swimming and diving team, ranked 30th in the latest CollegeSwimming poll, topped Lawrence University 108-30 in the Williams Center Pool Saturday afternoon.
The Warhawks recorded two season best times and won nine events in the meet.
Dan Bielski (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) posted a time of 2:02.20, the fastest of the season, to win the 200 yard individual medley.
Josh Kanute (Geneva, Ill./Marmion Academy) registered the other season best of the day with a time of 2:00.90 in the 200 yard butterfly to best the competition.
Bielski joined
Jake Shackelford (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa East), Austin Muehlshlegel and
Paul Hill (Jefferson/Fort Atkinson) to win the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.10. Hill added a top individual finish in the 100 yard freestyle finishing in 50.12 to win the event.
Samuel Bowman added 18 points to the team's total with the top finishes in the 200 yard freestyle touching the wall in 1:51.31 and 500 freestyle with a time of 5:05.63.
Nicholas Wellman (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and
David Joerres (New Berlin/St. Thomas More) followed Bowman finishing second and third in the event with times of 1:53.38 and 1:54.70.
UW-Whitewater swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle highlighted by the top time of 22.86 credited to
Steven Missak (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North).
James Rodney (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Brad Wilson (Brookfield/Milwaukee Lutheran) were second and third with times of 23.55 and 23.57 respectively.
Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Kenosha Bradford) posted a time of 2:01.48 to win the 200 yard backstroke and
Alex Carroll (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.38.
The Warhawks will travel to Wheaton, Illinois to compete in the Wheaton Invite December 5 and 6.
