NEKOOSA, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's golf team remains in third after two days of competition in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championship hosted by UW-River Falls at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa. Lake Arrowhead Golf Course is split into two separate courses, the Lakes and Pines. Teams began the championship on the Pines Course Friday, played the Lakes Course Saturday and will return to the Pines Course for the final round of action. The championship will conclude Sunday on the Pines Course.
The Warhawks carded a 354 Saturday for a two-day total of 699. UW-Stout leads the team standings after posting a 311 round two score for a total of 645. Eau Claire remains in second with a total of 678.
Sammie Leibham (Sheboygan/North) took over as the top Warhawk improving her card with an 81 Saturday for a total of 165 to tie for fourth with one round remaining.
Claudia Rhein (Racine/Prairie) is in ninth individually after carding an 86 for a total of 169.
Kate Winkler (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) duplicated her Friday card with an 86 for a 172 to tie for 12th and teammate
Stephanie Stair (Milton, Wis./Milton) rounds out the Warhawks in the top 15 with a 90 Saturday for a two-day total of 173, tied for 14th.
Sarah Bregant (Sussex/Hamilton) is currently tied for 24th after shaving six strokes off her Friday card for a 90 Saturday.
Vivian Shoemaker (San Jacinto, CA/San Jacinto) posted a 96 for a total of 191 in 27th place.
Kayla Asleson (Kenosha/Tremper), tied for 28th, recorded a 97 totaling 192 in the championship.
Hannah Taylor (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard South) improved the most on day two cutting nearly 20 strokes off her Friday card for an 88 Saturday to move into a tie for 32nd. Jessica Gruber rounds out the competing Warhawks in 44th with a total of 206.
Kate Engler, UW-Eau Claire, leads the field of 52 golfers with a 79 Saturday for a championship total of 157.

Individually, UW-Whitewater had two of the top five finishers, out of 52 golfers, in the first round of the championship. Sophomore
Stephanie Stair (Milton, Wis./Milton) shot below her season average with an 83 and senior
Claudia Rhein (Racine/Prairie) matched her score to tie for fourth. Senior
Sammie Leibham (Sheboygan/North) was right behind with an 84 to tie for sixth.
Kate Winkler (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) tied for 12th with a round of 86. Warhawks

Hannah Taylor (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard South) rounded out the competing Warhawks with a 107 to finish 46th with two days of competition remaining.
UW-Whitewater totaled 345, 11 strokes back from UW-Stout for the lead. Reigning champion, UW-Eau Claire holds second with a team total of 339. The rest of the field stands UW-Oshkosh (362), UW-Platteville (367), UW-River Falls (379) and UW-Stevens Point (391).
UW-Eau Claire's Kate Engler sits atop the leaderboard after a first round of 78. Eau Claire's Emiy Stone and Stout's Megan Ramp are tied for second and third with a score of 81.
Lake Arrowhead Golf Course is split into two courses, the Pines Course and the Lakes Course. The golfers opened the championship on the Pines Course Friday and will play the Lakes Course Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. The teams will return to the Pines Course to wrap up the championship Sunday with play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
