Dunlap Highlights Wrestlers at Blugold Open

Roland Dunlap (Muskego/Muskego ) went 4-0 to top the competition at 184 pounds in the 35th Annual Blugold Open hosted by UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon.

Dunlap is unbeaten this season, 7-0. With a technical fall in his first match Saturday, a pin in 1:57 in match two, a decision over Dalton Westerlund of Upper Iowa and a major decision over Kegan Gennrich of UW-Madison in the championship bout, Dunlap has recorded three major decisions, a tech fall and a pin in just seven matches this season.

Cam Loomis (River Falls/River Falls) and Andrew Pettit (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates) added third place finishes for the Warhawks. Loomis went 3-1 at 157 pounds bolstered by a pin over Alex Kleinschmidt of UW-Eau Claire in his second match of the day. Pettit was also 3-1 on the day and topped Dusty Jentz of Luther 5-2 in the battle for third.

Matt Adcock (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) was fourth in the 141 pound weight class at the open. Adcock went 3-2 on the day with both losses coming at the hands of Matthew Kelliher of Wisconsin. Adcock is 30-13 this season.

Joe Meylor (Darlington/Darlington) and Ryan Aprahamian (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) finished fifth in their respective weight classes. Meylor was 2-1 at 125 pounds for fifth. Aprahamian went 3-1 in the 174 pound bracket including a 7-1 decision over Brett Hochstaetter of UW-Madison in the fifth place bout.

The Warhawks will return to Eau Claire to compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Sunday, February 17.
