Shane Seifert, second in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III rankings, won the 197 pound title Saturday at
the Wisconsin Open hosted by UW-Parkside.

Seifert opened the tournament with a 15-0 technical fall over Javier Marquez of North Central College. Siefert followed with another tech fall, this time 16-1 over Nick Countryman of Elmhurst College. In the weight class championship match Siefert pinned Kenneth Hayden of the University of Michigan in 3:17 to win the 197 pound crown.
UW-W's
Matt Adcock (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) also advanced to the title match in his class at 141. Adcock defeated Blake Tisza of Harper Community College 4-3 in round one. He earned a place in the final with an 8-1 win over Adam Yde of UW-Parkside. Adcock was pinned in 1:43 by Jameson Oster of Northwestern in their weight class championship.
Ryan Aprahamian (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) earned fourth place in the 184 class in the meet. Aprahamian's first match was a 6-0 win over Daniel Threlkeld of Elmhurst. In the second round he was edged by Mitch Silga of Northwestern 6-4. Aprahamian came back with a pin in 4:27 of Vincent Pizzo of North Central, then followed up with a 1-0 win over Ayoola Olapo of Michigan and a 6-0 decision over Josh Anthony of UW-Parkside. In the third place match Jacob Berkowitz of Northwestern topped Aprahamian 4-3.
Conrad Bugay (Palatine, IL/Hersey) was one of two Warhawks that had six matches Saturday. Bugay went to the 125 pound lower bracket after a 7-5 loss to Jake Bellis of Harper in his opener. Bugay followed up with a 3-2 win over Thomas Angsten of Triton Community College, a 13-6 win over Trayvon Zabala, unattached, and then pinned Elmhurst's Tyler Price in 5:18. Bugay then lost a 5-0 decision to Bellis, and was pinned in 3:23 by Nicholas Santos of North Central in the fifth place match.Â
The other Warhawk with the especially busy day was
Jimmy Nehls (Downers Grove, IL/North) who, like Bugay, earned sixth place at 133 pounds with six matches. Nehls was edged 5-4 by Layten Binion of North Central in round one. Nehls followed that with three consecutive wins, pinning Jameel Carter of Triton Community College in 5:39, then topping George Fisher, unattached, 2-1, and concluding the streak with a pin in 2:23 of Dominic Boggia of North Central. The victory string ended with a 7-2 loss to Javier Gasca of Michigan State. Nehls had to medically forfeit his final match of the day.
There were no team scores kept in the tournament.Â
UW-Whitewater, ranked ninth in the NWCA poll, will take to the mat Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 at UW-Eau Claire. The next home competition for UW-W will be Friday the 13th with UW-Oshkosh visiting for a 7:00 start in Williams Center.
