MEQUON, Wis. - Matt Dwyer (South Beloit, IL/Hononegah) finished second in the 197 pound weight class to lead the Warhawks at the Concordia-Wisconsin Open. The open tournament featured bracketed competition in each weight class including attached and unattached wrestlers from a number of colleges and universities.

Dwyer opened the open with a bye followed by an 8-4 decision of Elmhurst's Luis Montoya and a pin in 2:20 of Jake Barclay of Wabash. He topped Mitchell Steed of Wheaton in a semifinal before falling to Puna Soriana of Wartburg 11-9 in overtime.
Six Warhawk grapplers went 2-2 in the open including
Zac Denny (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) (125), Ronnie Hauser (133),
Corey Meyer (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) (141), Grant Rosenboom (174), Mitch Elmer (174), and
Justin Birschbach (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) (184). These six combined for three pins and six major decisions in the open.
Also competing in the tournament was Nick Funella, 1-2 at 149 pounds, Connor Fussner, 1-2 in the 157 pound weight class, and
Taylor Hildebrandt (Genoa City/Lake Geneva Badger), 0-2 at 184 pounds.
UW-W will head to Stevens Point for their next dual against the Pointers December 5 at 7:00.
