Foresters Defeat Warhawks in Last Minute

Box Score Prior to Saturday the UW-Whitewater men's soccer team had won six games with a goal in the last two minutes of regulation or overtime. The tables turned Saturday as Lake Forest scored with 37 seconds left on the clock and held on to win 1-0 over the Warhawks at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. This was the first home loss of the season for the Warhawks who fall to 11-3. The Foresters improve to 8-5.

The Warhawk defense did an outstanding job taking away Lake Forest's leading goal scorer Mahir Mameledzija. He shot the ball five times in the game, but just one was on goal. In the end it was someone who had not scored all year that hurt UW-W. Themis Mourikes scored his first goal of the season on a give and go with teammate Dylan Hartman.

The Foresters outshot the Warhawks 13-7 and earned 4 corners to UW-W's 2. Both goalkeepers made four saves in the game.

UW-W won't have long to think about the loss as they return to the pitch on Sunday for a match against Ripon College at 3 pm in Whitewater.
