Men's Swim Tops Blugolds

Landon Joiner (Hinsdale, IL /South) and Marcus Genrich (Janesville/Parker) led the UW-Whitewater men's swim team to a 134-109 win over UW-Eau Claire in the Williams Center pool in Whitewater, Wisconsin Saturday afternoon.

Joiner won the sprint freestyle events, with a first place in the 50 in 22:25 and the 100 in 48.63.  He also contributed to the winning 400 freestyle relay, joined by Genrich, Ben Wynn (Glendale/Nicolet), and Ryan Stuart (Frankfort, IL/Lincolnway East).  Genrich, in addition to his part in the relay, also won the 200 individual medley in 1:58.19, and he was a member of the winning 400 medley relay.  That group, which included Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford), Wynn and Sam Parent (Sturgeon Bay/Sturgeon Bay), was timed in 3:36.30.

Devroy added individual first place points in the 200 backstroke (1:59.85).  UW-W's Jake Shackelford (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa East) won the 1000 freestyle in 10:07.69. 

Keefer Kuhl (Kenosha/Bradford) took second place in both diving events, with 251.30 points on the one meter board and 205.40 on the three meter.

The Warhawks will take on the UW-LaCrosse Eagles in Whitewater at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 2.
