After a three up, three down top of the first the UW-W offense got things going. Amanda Mertes (Des Plaines, IL/Elk Grove) and Mimi Ramirez (Chicago, IL/Trinity) led off Whitewater's half of the inning with back-to-back walks. Paige Evangelista (Wheaton, IL/North) put down a successful sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third. Laura Eichenold (Elmwood Park, IL/Trinity) put the Warhawks on the board with a two out single to center field scoring two and giving UW-W the early lead.

Zeros were posted on the scoreboard for the next three and a half innings with Whitewater headed to the plate in the bottom of the fifth.

Mertes led off the inning with a double to left field. A one out error and a single off the bat of Emily Epifanio (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South) loaded the bases for the Warhawks. Eichenold notched her third RBI of the game with another single, this time to left field to keep bases loaded. Samie Seamon (Antioch, IL/Antioch) stepped in the batter's box with one out, bases loaded and came up with the big hit of the game, a grand slam over the left field fence to put Whitewater up 7-0. Morgan Krisch (Plainfield, IL/Central) kept things going with a single to center field. With two outs, another Pioneer error put Warhawk runners on first and second. Emily Muche (Van Dyne/Winnebago Lutheran) came in to run for Krisch at second and pinch hitter Kiersten Tinkoff (Lake Barrington, IL/Barrington) ended the game on the first pitch of her at bat with a hard shot down the line (ruled an error) that allowed Muche to cross the plate from second.

Seamon led Whitewater at the plate with a perfect 3x3 performance with two singles and the grand slam for four runs batted in. Eichenold went 2x3 in the batter's box and recorded three RBIs in the game. Krisch also posted a multi-hit game going 2x3 from the plate.

Junior righty Katie Boyle (Greendale/Thomas More) picked up the five inning win in the game allowing two hits while fanning five. Boyle is now 14-4 this season.
