Saint Thomas opened the scoring with a run in the second. Sam Miller singled, stole second, advanced to third on a
ground ball, and scored on a Jack Hogan single to stack the Tommies to an early lead. The Tommies scored their second run with the aid of two Whitewater fielding miscues to make it 2-0 after three. Saint Thomas tacked on two more in the fourth to go up 4-0. And then the tables turned.
Jared Fon (Germantown/Germantown) cut the deficit with a two run homer, the first of three consecutive extra base hits, and the five run rally wrested the lead from UST, Whitewater leading 5-4. Dylan Thomas' two run home run in the bottom of the sixth regained the lead, 6-5, for Saint Thomas. Thomas produced three runs, of four in the inning, with a homer in the seventh, and the Tommies went up 10-5. The Warhawks scored one in the top of the eight but left the bases loaded before any further damage could be done.
Saint Thomas used four pitchers with Tommy Danczyk earning the victory.
The win by Saint Thomas (38-3) advances them to the 2012 NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin beginning on Friday, May 25.
UW-W ends the season with a 33-17 record.

Given the stalwart work by both teams' pitchers, it was notable even when someone got into scoring position. Concordia had men in scoring position in the second and third, but could not push across a run. The same for Whitewater in the bottom half of the third.

David Cladis (Joliet, IL/Joliet Catholic) led off with a walk, and moved to third on
Matt Beyer (Janesville/Parker)'s single.

In the top of the seventh catcher Nick Skala doubled to open the frame and moved to third on a ground out, and then scored on a ground out to tie the game 1-1.
Whitewater got a runner to second in the bottom of the seventh, and put a man on third in the eighth, and threatened again in the ninth with a man in scoring position, but Concordia reliever Tim Milroy closed the door both times.
Brandon Egnarski (Watertown/Watertown) singled to lead of the tenth for UW-W, and J.T. Schneider went in to pinch run. Cladis single through the left side to advance Schneider to second. Beyer followed with his game winning hit, a single through the left side of the infield.
Schmitz, 9-2, went all ten innings for Whitewater. He allowed five hits, walked three and struck out three. Thorsen went the first 6.1 for CU-C, with Milroy, 2-2, taking the loss. Beyer had two of the Warhawks' six hits, and shortstop Robert Weis had a pair of hits to lead Concordia hitters.
