UW-Whitewater's
Grant Sutter (Dodgeville/Dodgeville),
Matt Adcock (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) and
Shane Siefert (Mundelein, IL/Carmel) won titles at the Indiana Little State Tournament hosted by the University of Indianapolis Saturday. There were no team scores kept.
Final Bracket
Sutter, ranked ninth by
D3wrestle.com and seeded first in the tourney, went 3-0 to win the 133 pound class. He opened with a pin in 2:02 of Aaron Davis of Wabash College, followed with a 13-4 major decision of Kalib Jackson of Manchester College, and pinned Tommie Lockett of Indiana Tech in 1:28 in the championship match.
Adcock had to win four matches, including defeating a UW-W teammate, to earn the 141 pound title. He defeated Patrick Parham of Wabash 7-2 in round one, advancing to an 11-4 win over Darius Henderson of Lincoln College. In the semifinal Adcock beat Enoch McCottrell of Lincoln 6-2 to set up a match against fellow Warhawk
Corey Meyer (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove). Adcock won that championship bout 14-4.
Siefert had a first round bye, then pinned Jake Barclay of Wabash in 2:21 in the second round. Next was an 8-6 win over Eric Johnson of Calumet-Saint Joseph. Siefert defeated Austin O'Neil of Wabash 8-3 in the 197 pound championship match.
Whitewater had two wrestlers place at 184 pounds.
Andrew Pettit (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates) took second with a 3-1 record, and Mitch Elmer went 5-1 to take third place.
UW-W's
Anthony Edgren (New Lisbon/New Lisbon) had a 3-1 record on the day to finish third at 285 pounds.
UW-Whitewater will travel to Providence, Rhode Island for the JWU Tournament, December 21, beginning at 9:00. The next home match will take place January 25 against conference opponent UW-Eau Claire, with the for Alumni Night action beginning at 7:00 PM.
