The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 win over Division II Upper Iowa University Friday afternoon at the Wangerin Tennis Courts in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The Warhawk lineup is minus just one player from the squad that won a fourth consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship last year while compiling a 22-6 dual meet record. Senior
Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial), an ITA All-American two years ago, heads the deep lineup.
The Warhawks will host seven teams in the Warhawk Invite Saturday, September 3 at the Wangerin Courts south of the Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Teams competing include UW-W, Illinois Wesleyan, Carthage, Grinnell, Augustana, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00. There is no spectator charge.
