The thirteenth ranked UW-W softball team posted two more wins in Clermont, Florida Tuesday. The Warhawks defeated the University of St. Thomas 8-1 and topped Hope College 10-8 in the National Training Center spring games.

Amanda Mertes (Des Plaines, IL/Elk Grove) reached on an error to start the game, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Mimi Ramirez (Chicago, IL/Trinity) and reached third after tagging up on a fly out to right field. A
Samie Seamon (Antioch, IL/Antioch) single to center field scored Mertes to put the 'Hawks up 1-0 after half an inning.
Whitewater struck again in the second with
Laura Eichenold (Elmwood Park, IL/Trinity) singling to left field to begin the inning. A throwing error on
Morgan Krisch (Plainfield, IL/Central)'s bunt advanced Eichenold all the way to third. A long fly ball in foul territory from
Jordyn Gaza (Mundelein, IL/Carmel Catholic) was caught allowing Eichenold to tag and score from third. Ramirez doubled to left center later in the inning to score Krisch.
Two walks to start the fourth inning put runners on first and second for UW-W. Gaza moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.
Tina Galuk (Lake in the Hills, IL/Crystal Lake South) drove in Whitewater's fourth run on a sacrifice fly to left.
Ramirez bunted for a base hit in the fifth, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Seamon reached on a fielder's choice with Ramirez sliding in safe at home.
Haley Krueger (Beach Park, IL/Waukegan) grounded into a fielder's choice with the Tommies taking the out on the lead runner. Eichenold tripled in the next at bat to score Krueger and bring the score to 6-0 in favor of UW-W.
The Warhawks posted two more runs in the top of the sixth off of three hits and with the help of a St. Thomas error.
UW-W lefty
Jessica Stang (Minnetonka, MN/Minnetonka) shut down the UST offense with a perfect game going into the sixth inning. However, a pinch hit single from Fantashia Gates-Colber broke up the perfect game. St. Thomas was able to put one run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth but there would be no comeback as the Warhawks finished out the game for the 8-1 win.
Ramirez, Eichenold and Seamon each recorded two hits going 2x3, 2x3 and 2x4 respectively. Seamon added two RBI's while Eichenold crossed home twice and produced another RBI on a triple.
Stang posted the complete game win on the mound for UW-W giving up just three hits and one run while striking out five with no walks.

UW-W jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the second game of the day. Ramirez started things off with a one out single to the shortstop and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Lauren Rankins (Marengo, IL/Marengo) walked to put runners on first and second. Seamon singled on a high bouncer to the shortstop to load the bases. Krueger recorded an RBI in the next at bat after getting hit by a pitch. Eichenold singled to right field to score Rankins and keep the bases loaded. Krisch reached on a fielder's choice after Seamon beat the throw to homeplate from the shortstop.
Hope came back with a run in the top of the second after a single started the inning. A groundout advanced the Suzie Stevenson to second and a single through the left side scored the run.
HC took the lead in the top of the third inning scoring three runs on two hits to go up 4-3.
The Warhawks fought back in their half of the inning after Eichenold doubled and then scored on an error to tie the game 4-4.
Both teams brought the offense in the fifth inning. Hope began the top of the inning with a single up the middle from Stephanie Faber. A sacrifice bunt moved Faber to second. Andrea Reinecke grounded into a fielder's choice but the runner was safe at third to put runners on the corners. A stolen base from Reinecke put two runners in scoring position. A double to left field from Laura Tjepkema scored two. Tjepkema came around to score on an error giving Hope a three run fifth to take the lead 7-4.
UW-W fired right back in the bottom of the fifth. Eichenold started the inning with her second double of the game this time down the left field line. A one out single to the shortstop from Gaza advanced Eichenold to third. Jackie Bigger pinch ran for Gaza at first with runners on the corners.
Kassie Krueger (Plover/SPASH) drew a pinch hit walk to load the bases. Galuk came up big in a pinch hit role for the second time of the day tagging a hard ground ball that got passed the second baseman to score two. With
Kassie Krueger (Plover/SPASH) on third and Galuk standing on second, Ramirez walked to load the bases for the second time of the inning. A single from Rankins moved the runners ahead a base and scored one. Seamon drew a bases loaded walk to bring in Galuk.
Haley Krueger (Beach Park, IL/Waukegan) flew out right field for an RBI scoring Ramirez as Whitewater put five runs on the board in the inning and regained the lead 9-7.
The Warhawks posted another run in the bottom of the six to give them a three run, 10-7, lead going into the seventh.
Hope College started the inning with a triple but UW-W wasn't phased allowing just one other baserunner in the inning. Whitewater finished out the inning allowing one run and taking the win 10-8.
Rankins was perfect at the plate going 3x3 with an RBI, a run and a walk. Eichenold posted a 3x4 game with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.
Right hander
Katie Boyle (Greendale/Thomas More) started the game on the mound for Whitewater pitching 4.2 innings giving up seven runs on nine hits. Stang came in for the last two innings to pick up the win and improve to 5-0 this season.
UW-W is 7-1 on the season.
The Warhawks play two more in the NTC spring games Wednesday against Fontbonne and Southern Maine at 9:30 and 11:30 (ET). Whitewater finishes out its spring trip Thursday with a double header against Bowdoin and Buffalo State.
