The UW-Whitewater women's golf team is in sixth place out of seventeen teams after the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course in Bloomington, Illinois.
Melanie Helgeson (St. Charles, IL/North) carded a 77 to lead the 'Hawks on day one and resides in fifth place. The link to the results reflects that UW-W was in fourth after the first day, but
Chelsea Davis (Greendale/Greendale)' score was disqualified giving the team a 341 instead of a 331.

Conditions were windy on Saturday but 13 golfers broke 80 in the first round, including Helgeson.
As a team the Warhawks recorded a 341. They are 21 strokes off of third and 25 behind the leader, DePauw University.
