Warhawks Sweep Hope to Start Spring Trip

The Whitewater baseball team swept a double header against Hope College in the first two games of their spring trip in Winterhaven, FL winning 5-3 in the first game and 11-3 in the nightcap.

Game 1
Senior left-hander Riley Tincher (Oregon/Oregon) picked up his second win of the season as the Warhawks raised their record to 4-0.

Game 2
UW-W trailed 3-2 after four innings.  Daniel Putnam (Ashland /Ashland) stroked a two-run double in the fifth inning, and Travis Wessels (Tomah/Tomah) doubled in two more in the sixth to give the Warhawks the lead.  UW-W pitchers Eric Schmitz (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) (soph, L), and Ben Versnik (West Allis/Hale) (soph, R) combined for seven consecutive strikeouts, with Schmitz ending the fourth with a "K", then striking out the side in the fifth, and giving way to Versnik who struck out the side in the sixth.  UW-W is 5-0, scoring in double figures in four of the wins.
