Hanney Leads Men's Swimmers to Win at Lawrence

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's swim team upped its record to 4-0 as Andy Hanney (Grafton/Grafton) won three events in the 191-87 win over Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin Saturday.

Results

Andy Hanney (Grafton/Grafton) led the way, contributing first place points while winning the 100 breaststroke (1:05.49), the 200 backstroke (1:56.50), and the 400 individual medley (2:02.94).  Hanney led a 1-2-3 sweep for UW-W in the 200 butterfly.

Derek Uselman (Middleton/Middleton) won the long distance freestyle events, touching first in the 500 (5:02.47) and 1000 (10:43.55).  Landon Joiner (Hinsdale, IL /South) helped clean up in the freestyle, winning the 100 (50.09) and 200 (1:53.06).  Bill Stenavich (Brookfield/Central) made is a sweep in the freestyle, timed in 23.17 for the 50.

Brogan Runion (Prairie Village, KS /Shawnee Mission East) rounded out the double winners for the Warhawks, taking first in the 100 (53.55) and 200 (2:01.21) butterfly events.

Marcus Genrich (Janesville/Parker) also contributed first place points, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.48.

Uselman and Stenavich were joined by Adam Altenburg (Watertown/Watertown) and Nate Glover (Milton/Milton) on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:30.51).

Whitewater will face-off against UW-La Crosse Saturday, November 20 at 1:00 in La Crosse.
