box score

UW-Whitewater did not take a shot, not just a shot on goal but any shot, in the first half.  Saint Thomas had three shots in the first eighteen minutes, all blocked by UW-W defenders before getting to goalkeeper Aaron Sesselmann (Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy).  Saint Thomas totaled five shots in the first half, none of them getting through to Sesselmann.

Whitewater turned the table in the second half, recording the first six shots in the half, including Kevin Grimstad (Hartland/Arrowhead)'s shot at 78:13 that hit the post.  UST's only shot of the half came at 84:35, and it was also the only save Sesselmann was called on to make.

The Warhawks had the only two shots in the first overtime.  UST goalie Sam Jensen stopped Dan Montanye (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) at 91:40 and Grimstad just before the period ended at 99:08, the only two saves Jensen had to make in the game.  Defenses continued to dominate through the second extra period, with neither team getting off a shot.

UW-W is making a habit of playing extra time.  The Warhawks had back-to-back double overtimes games September 5 and September 8, the former a 2-2 tie with Clarke College and the second a 2-1 win over Loras College.  The Warhawks also had a double overtime game on a bigger stage, November 14, 2009 in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament.  UW-W defeated Saint Olaf College 1-0 in the match played in River Forest, Illinois.

Whitewater had ten corner kicks to three for UST, and UW-W had fewer fouls, 10-16.

UW-W is 7-0-2 this season, and Saint Thomas is 6-4-2.

The Warhawks' next match is Wednesday at Ripon College.  The next home game will be Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00, with North Park visiting Bob Fiskum Field.  Fiskum Field is on the north end of campus, west of Perkins Stadium and northwest of Williams Center.  Free parking is adjacent to Fiskum Field.
