The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team was selected to finish second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in the preseason poll voted on by Coaches and Sports Information Directors.
The Warhawks are coming off their 4th WIAC regular season title, reaching their 15th NCAA Tournament in program history. UW-Whitewater finished the season with a 14-3-3 record, going 4-0-1 in WIAC play to claim a share of the WIAC regular season title.
Head Coach Tony Guinn enters his 14th season with the program, now holding the record for most wins at the helm of the Warhawk Men's Soccer program with 167. Coach Guinn returns 23 letterwinners from the 2025 WIAC champion squad, including seven starters.
Of those seven starters, the Warhawks boast five returning All-WIAC players. Headlining the group, is
Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), who claimed the WIAC Goalkeeper of the Year award. Waite made 16 starts last year, recording just a 0.67 GAA while making 59 saves. The sophomore recorded 5 solo clean sheets on the season.
Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty), a two-time All-WIAC First Team selection, will headline one of the top-defensive squads in the conference. Saul, a versatile student-athlete, is the top returning scorer, with four goals and six assists during the 2025 campaign. Joining Saul is senior
Adam Kaup (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln), who only appeared in five games in 2025. In those five games, Kaup recorded four assists over 320 minutes.
Senior
Mason Diercks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon), also a 2025 All-WIAC First Team selection, will help control the midfield, along with sophomores
Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) and
Mitchell Tackney (Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque Hempstead). Diercks started in 19 games, with Chrisman and Tackney combining for over 2,400 on the field as freshman.
Aidian Martin (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) will also return to the midfield, Martin saw limited time last year due to injury, but was a 2024 All-WIAC First Team Selection.
On the offensive end, the Warhawks will look to continue their output as the top scoring offense in the WIAC. A season ago, UWW averaged a conference-best 2.50 goals a game. The offense was fueled by last year's senior
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly), the program's second All-American in history.
With the departure of Re, the Warhawk offense will look to
James Kiraly (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union), a 2024 All-WIAC First Team Selections. Kiraly was the Warhawks leading scorer in 2024, scoring 8 goals in 18 games.
Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) will be another key returner as a frontman. Glancey tallied over 1,000 minutes last season, with 4 goals and 3 assists.
The Warhawks begin their season with a three-game road stretch, beginning at Monmouth on Friday, September 4th. The Warhawks make their home opener on Saturday, September 12th at 5 PM against Marian. UWW will face UW-Stout for the WIAC opener on Sunday, October 4th.
