The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's golf team competed in the UW-Stout Spring Invite. The Warhawks tied for first place with the host school, finishing with a 316 in the 18-hole invite.
Individually,
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) and
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) took the top two spots on the leaderboard. Johnson tallied 15 pars on the day to finish with a 74 on the 71-par course to take the top spot.
Schmidt took second behind Johnson with a 76 total on the day. Schmidt finished with five total birdies, three coming in the front nine to start the day.
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) and
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) tied for 14th on the leaderboard, both finishing with an 83.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) rounded out the first Warhawk squad with an 84-stroke total for 18th overall.Â
The second Warhawk team finished 8th overall on the team leaderboard.
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and
Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) led the squad with 85 and 86, respectively. Velent finished 22nd overall, and Berken 26th.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (87) and
Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) (92) rounded out the scorers from the second squad, with
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (92) completing the team.
Competing as an individual, Magen Honn finished 18th on the leaderboard with a 84 overall.
Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) and
Sammy Galian (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) also competed as individuals, finishing with an 89 and 91, respectively.Â
