Six Warhawks Earn All-WIAC Honors

Six UW-Whitewater softball players have earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors for 2025. Bella Eggert (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North), Emma Giese (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail), Josie Hammen (Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly), Kiarra Kostroski (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) and Grace Wickman (Wausaukee, Wis./Peshtigo) were selected to the All-WIAC Team while Claire Kohnle (Tisch Mills, Wis./Kewaunee) represented UWW on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Eggert, a junior speedy leadoff slapper, is ranked seventh in the league in batting average (.416), fourth in runs scored (36) and fifth in hits (52). Starting the majority of games in centerfield, Eggert has a perfect fielding percentage this season and she's tossed out four runners at home.

Giese, a junior shortstop, is ranked among the top 15 in the WIAC in runs (28), doubles (10) and walks (15). At the plate, Giese shares the team-lead in walks drawn in a game (3), doubles in a game (2) and at bats in a game (5).

Hammen, a sophomore pitcher, has been one of the top pitchers in the league all season. The righty boasts the seventh-best earned run average in the league (2.10) and holds hitters to a batting average of just .249. She is tied for the most wins in the conference this season (15) and her three saves is ranked ninth.

Kostroski, a senior utility player, has registered the majority of innings at first base for UW-Whitewater this season. Always a feared bat in the lineup, Kostroski broke the UWW record for walks this season (30) - a mark that is tied for fifth-most in a season in the history of the WIAC. She is ranked 14th in Division III in walks drawn per game this season. Kostroski is ranked among the top five in the league in slugging percentage (.650), on base percentage (.497), runs scored (40), runs batted in (34) and homeruns (7).

Wickman, a senior staple at third base for the Warhawks, has been one of the top hitters in the league over the course of her career. This season, Wickman is ranked third in RBI with 40, seventh in doubles with 14 and fifteenth in slugging percentage (.507).

Led by the winningest coach in the history of the league Brenda Volk, UW-Whitewater won the WIAC regular season title with a 12-2 mark in league play. The Warhawks' 16 conference titles leads the league by five. UWW will make its 25th appearance in the NCAA tournament later this week - 12 more postseason appearances than the next closest WIAC institution.
