The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team fell to 37th-ranked Hope College in their final game of the Midwest Invite. The Warhawks finished 6th in the 8-team bracket, going 1-2 over their three games.
The Warhawks were unable to earn the double point, with the Flying Dutch taking the first and second flights. All three doubles flights were decided by less than two games with 6-4 finals.
Ava Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis./) &
Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) won their match at the third doubles flight.
On the singles side, UW-Whitewater took the first two matches to finish in the third and sixth flights.
Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) and Lee each won their respective singles matches in straight sets.
The Flying Dutchman evened things back up, taking the first & second singles flight.Â
The match finished in super tiebreakers at the fourth & fifth flights. Both super tiebreakers went past 10-points into win-by-two situations.
Sarah Ferguson (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) took the fifth flight bouncing back from a 2-6 first set into a 12-10 victory in the third set tiebreaker.Â
Hope took the fourth flight to take the match as the Warhawks split the singles matches 3-3.
The Women's Tennis team will return to action on April 13th to face North Central College. The match is scheduled for 12 PM at the Warhawk Tennis Complex
