Day Two Recap

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team continues Day 2 of the ITA Midwest Regional on Saturday.

Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) defeated Anna Lee from UW-Eau Claire to advance into the Round of 16 on Saturday morning. Her next match of the day, Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) defeated another WIAC opponent in Shelby Roth from UW-La Crosse 6-1, 6-3. Lee will compete in the quarterfinal round against Piper Brown from Carleton Sunday morning at 9 AM. 

Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) also won her first match of the day, heading into teh Round of 16 with a 1-6, 7-5, (12-10) win over Bailey from UW-La Crosse. In the round of 16, Ha fell to the fourth-seed Elvestrom from Gustavus Adolphus 6-3, 6-0. 

For the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles, Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) & Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) made it to the Round of 16 before falling to the doubles pair from Bethel. 

In addition to the ITA Midwest Regional, Gustavus Adolphus is also holding the Midwest Invite. Ashley Adkisson (Licolnshire, Ill./Stevensen) continued her run into the semifinals with a win against Pelletier from St. Catherine's 6-1, 7-6(3). In the Championship match of Draw #7, Adkisson fell to Steier from UW-Stevens Point, 6-3, 6-1.

Adkisson made it to the championship match in her doubles draw with partner Priyanka Bhogaraju (Barrington, Ill./Elgin Academy). The Warhawk pair defeated the pair from Gustavus Adolphus to take the Doubles Draw #4. 

Day One Recap

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team began competition in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional hosted by Gustavus Adolphus Friday. 

Both singles and doubles play got underway Friday. In singles action, Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) received a bye and went on to defeat Central's Jenna Mahoney in straight sets - 6-0, 6-0. She will take on Anna Lee of UW-Eau Claire in her first match Saturday. 

Sarah Ferguson (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) won a long match against Montse Ramirez (Luther) Friday. After defeating Ramirez 6-4, 7-6(5), Ferguson dropped her second match of the day to GAC's Kaya De Bruijn 6-2, 6-1. 

Abby Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) went 1-0 after receiving a bye in the opening round. She topped Luther's Rafaela Tavares 7-5, 6-2 to set up a matchup against Xingchen Liu of Carthage. 

Ava Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis./) was 1-1 on the day. She topped Bethel's Malia McKinnon 6-4, 6-4 before falling to Carleton's Kiley Pickens 6-1, 6-4. 

Alex Repplier (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) dropped her opener in a tiebreak falling to Fiona O'Flaherty (St. Olaf) 1-6, 6-3, 10-5. 

Gracie defeated Lena Lichau (Luther) 6-1, 6-1 after taking a bye through the first round. She'll take on UW-La Crosse's Tasha Bailey Saturday. 

Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) also received a bye and followed with a 7-6(3), 6-4 victory over UWL's Maia Samuelson. Her first match of Saturday will be against Carleton's Miriam Shteyman. 

Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win over UWEC's Morgan Dekan, but fell to Bethel's Lauryn Douglas 6-0, 6-1 in her second match of the day. 

In the doubles bracket, Repplier and Asfeld teamed up for an 8-2 win over Luther's duo of O'Donnell and Ostermann. 

The Warhawks' tandem of Weaver and Andrae picked up an 8-4 win over Grinnell's Martin and Viersma. 

Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) and Ha combined for an 8-0 sweep over GAC's Packer and Stroebel. 

Ferguson paired with Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) for an opening round 8-6 victory over McKinnon and Nuest of Bethel. 

The Gusties are also hosting the Midwest Invite in tandem with the ITA Midwest Regional. Abigail McIsaac (Fairview Heights, Ill./Southwestern Illinois College) picked up a 2-6, 7-5, 1-9 win over Allie Christensen (Luther) and a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Elena Bartels (St. Scholastica) Friday. She will face Ella Marhol (Saint Benedict) in a semifinal of Draw 6 Saturday. 

Adkisson also advanced to the semifinals in Draw 7. She topped Carroll's Erin Horzewski 6-0, 6-3 and Delaney Hanson of UWEC 6-3, 7-6(5) to earn a spot in the semis. Adkisson will take on St. Catherine's Marie Pelletier in her next match. 

Priyanka Bhogaraju (Barrington, Ill./Elgin Academy) went 1-1 on the day. She opened with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Larissa Ishikawa (Carthage) before falling to Bethany Smith (GAC) 6-4, 6-3. 

In doubles draws, Griswold will pair with McIsaac in Draw 1 while Adkisson and Bhogaraju will compete in Draw 4 this weekend. 

Megan Griswold (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) is competing in Draw 3. As of 6 p.m. no results were posted for this draw.
