Warhawk Women Top Field at Rex Foster Twilight

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team finished first with a total of 238.5 points at the Rex Foster Twilight in Whitewater Friday evening. 

Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) was flying in the fastest event of the day as the Warhawks had five finish among the top eight in the 100. Her 11.74 in the event is the fastest time so far this season. Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, IL/Jacobs) finished second with a time of 12.36 while Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) was fourth, Eden Bowen (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) sixth and Kenzie Nieslen finished eighth. In the hurdles version of the 100, Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) posted a runner-up time of 15.86 followed by Morgan Amend (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) in fourth with a clocking of 17.88. 

Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) led a four-Warhawk contingent to finish among the top eight in the 1500. Her time of 4:49.81 was tops at the meet. Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) was fourth followed by Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) in fifth and Renee Forystek (Waukesha, WI/North) in seventh. 

Katie McNamara (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) paced UWW in the 200 with a time of 26.42. Abby Giese (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) and Daja Pryor (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) were fourth and fifth respectively in the event. In the 400, Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) was the top Warhawk. Her time of 59.52 was third. Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) registered a personal best time of 1:00.49 to finish fourth. 

Kayla Fogarty (Holt, MI/) and Erin Feldmeier (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) crossed the line in sixth and seventh respectively in the 400 meter hurdles. Fogarty led the pair with a time of 1:23.52. 

Three UWW runners claimed 4-5-6 in the 3,000 steeplechase. Marlee Nichols (Burlington, WI/) was the first to cross the line with a time of 12:49.82 followed by Emma Shingledecker (New Berlin, Wis./West) less than a second back. Abby Motz (New Berlin, WI/Eisenhower) finished sixth with a time of 12:55.66. 

In the throws, Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) claimed gold in the hammer throw and silver in the discus. Her toss of 50.96 meters (167-02) in the hammer is a top ten mark in the nation this season. Brooke Mader (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) finished eighth in the event. Czarnecki's heave in the discus was recorded at 40.20 meters (131-11). Czarnecki added a personal best in the javelin with a distance of 29.28 meters (96-01) to finish sixth. Giese was seventh and Brynn Oremus (Waukesha, Wis./West) finished eighth in the event. Mader was the top Warhawk in the shot put with a personal best of 11.54 meters (37-10.50) to claim fourth. 

The high jump was the event with the most Warhawks finishing among the top eight. Brynn Fuerstenberg's (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) leap of 1.58 meters (5-2.25) was tops at the meet. Rebecca Lawrence (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) and Pouska tied for second just two inches under the lead. Renee Rittmeyer (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) finished sixth and Natasha Hess (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) was eighth. 

Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) won both the long jump and the pole vault Friday. She registered a leap of 5.18 meters (17-0) in the long jump while teammate Ava Falk (Kaneland, IL/) finished fourth. In the pole vault, she height of 3.92 meters (12-10.25) is ranked second nationally. Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) and Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) made it a Warhawk sweep of the top three. Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest) and Malerie Morey (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) added top eight finishes placing sixth and seventh respectively. 

In the triple jump, Rileigh Elgas (Janesville, Wis./Craig) led the way with a leap of 10.95 meters (35-11.25) for second. Emily Mohs (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) finished third followed by Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI) in seventh and Lauren Coppes (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) in eighth. 

The top UWW 4x100 squad of Pouska, Shelton, Kornowski and Bowen were the first to cross the line at the meet. The combination recorded a time of 47.68 - a top ten mark this season.
