The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team competed in the Drake Alternative hosted by the Warhawks Thursday.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) claimed gold in the 1500 leading a four-Warhawk contingent to place among the top eight in the event. Fassbender crossed the line with a season best time of 4:49.37.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) (4:51.58),
Renee Forystek (Waukesha, WI/North) (4:51.91) and
Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) (4:57.37) all registered personal bests to finish third, fifth and seventh respectively.
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, IL/Jacobs) added a first place finish in the 200 with a time of 25.86.
Katie McNamara (Geneva, Ill./Geneva),
Maddie Buehler (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater),
Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) and
Daja Pryor (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) swept fifth through eighth with times of 26.83, 26.96, 26.99 and 27.03.
Abby Motz (New Berlin, WI/Eisenhower) registered a fantastic run in the 3000 steeplechase. With a personal best time of 12:32.53, Motz finished as the runner-up in the event.
Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) captured third in the 100 with a clocking of 12.61 while teammate
Eden Bowen (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) was fifth with a time of 12.76.
Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) added a fourth-place finish in the 100 hurdles after crossing the line in 15.76.
Jocelyn Ramirez (Jefferson, WI/) rounded out the top eight individual finishers on the track with a time of 19:09.38 to finish fifth in the 5000.
UWW's top 4x100 squad was the first to cross the line Thursday.
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) led off the crew that included Buehler, Kornowski and Pouska for a clocking of 48.60. In the 4x400, Fassbender ran the lead leg followed by Erb,
Nicole Brown (Grayslake, IL) and
Emma Henningfeld (East Troy, Wis./East Troy). The four finished as the runners-up with a time of 4:17.06.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led the Warhawks in the throws. She posted a season best distance in the hammer throw, 54.14 (177-7) to finish second. That mark is ranked ninth in Division III this season. Czarnecki added a sixth-place finish in the discus with a heave of 40.97 (134-5).
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) was the top finisher in the pole vault with a height of 3.71 (12-1).
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) was third in the event with a height of 3.56 (11-8) while
Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) posted a season best height of 3.41 (11-2.25) to claim fourth. Holland was also fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.38 (17-8).
Pouska led a four-Warhawk contingent in the high jump to place among the top eight. Her height of 1.57 (5-1.75) was good for fifth.
Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and
Kiara McKowen (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) each registered a height of 1.52 (4-11.75) to finish in sixth and seventh respectively.
Abby Burr (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) added an eighth-place finish with a leap of 1.47 (4-9.75).
The Warhawks swept fifth through seventh in the triple jump led by a mark of 10.71 (35-1.75) from
Rileigh Elgas (Janesville, Wis./Craig).
Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI) and
Lauren Coppes (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) followed with personal bests of 10.55 (34-7.5) and 10.42 (34-2.25) respectively.
