The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) paced the field in the 200 with a top time of 24.54. That mark ranks fifth in the nation so far this season.
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) finished sixth in the event with a time of 26.00. She added a fourth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 58.67.
Two Warhawks finished among the top eight in the 100.
Eden Bowen (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) led the way with a time of 12.75 with teammate
Maddie Buehler (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) taking sixth after crossing the line in 12.88.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) added eighth-place points in the 800 with a time of 2:19.21.
Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) captured sixth in the 100 hurdles with a clocking of 16.03.
Marlee Nichols (Burlington, WI/) crossed the line in eighth in the 5,000 Saturday with a time of 19:59.91.
In the relays, UW-Whitewater took third in the 4x100 with a time that ranks 11th in Division III. Bilodeau led off the group that included Shelton, Kornowski and Pouska to cross the line in 47.49. The 4x400 squad included Fassbender, Brynn Fuerstenbert,
Lauren Coppes (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) and
Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn). The foursome finished seventh with a time of 4:06.30.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led UWW in the throws. She placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.51 meters (165-9). Shelton added a second fourth in the throws with a distance of 35.14 meters (115-3) in the javelin.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) claimed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.42 meters (17-9.5). Fuerstenberg took fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters (5-3).
The meet included two pole vault competitions. Holland won the invite competition with a height of 3.93 meters (12-10.75), besting the competition by nearly a foot and moving into second nationally.
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) was third with a height of 3.48 meters (11-5) while
Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) was seventh with a height of 3.33 meters (10-11). In the other pole vault competition, two Warhawks tied for third while another took fifth in the pole vault.
Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest) and
Malerie Morey (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) each posted vaults of 3.23 meters (10-7.25).
Trinity Wilson (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) registered the same height but finished fifth on attempts.
