The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team finished 13th in an 18-team field at the Mid-Winter Classic over the weekend. The Warhawks wrapped up the tournament with a 4-9 record.
UWW went into the championship bracket Sunday as the eleventh seed. The Warhawks dropped the first Baker series to Newman 4-1 (161-191, 174-210, 192-180, 189-198, 166-228). In the second round of the bracket, UWW fell to Oklahoma Christian 4-1 (158-134, 170-177, 191-214, 132-194, 174-202).
UW-Whitewater capped the tournament with a win in the team's final Baker series. The Warhawks took the first game against Alabama State 215-182. ASU took the lead in the series winning the next three games 172-199, 168-181 and 161-202. UWW responded with a huge 257-160 win and evened the series with a 206-181 win in game six. The Warhawks took the series with a narrow, two-pin win (182-180) in game seven.
