The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team along with 12 Warhawks earned academic honors from the National Tenpin Coaches Association for the 2022-23 season. UWW was recognized as an All-Academic Team while the 12 Warhawks claimed All-Academic recognition.Â
The Warhawk women's bowling program posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.427 for the academic year. UWW was one of 42 collegiate programs to secure a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or higher in order to earn NTCA recognition.Â
Individually, the 12 Warhawks earning All-Academic recognition include senior
Alyssa Lang (Palos Heights, Ill./Marist);Â juniors
Jamie Gabrysz (Prescott Valley, Ariz./Fountain-Fort Carson (Colo.)),
Bree Gullikson (Custer, Wis./Amherst),
Rebecca Howard (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North); sophomore Danielle Swaisgood; and freshmen
Skye Farr (Sun Prairie, Wis.),
Emily O'Byrn (Barrington, Ill.),
Samantha Radig (Beaver Dam, Wis.),
Emily Rusk (Greenfield, Wis.),
Cheyenne Tuft (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and
Kate Winter (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North). Individuals must have garnered a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.4 for the academic year to be eligible. Overall, the NTCA recognized 285 student-athletes from 57 institutions in 2022-23.Â
The 2022-23 squad competed in the Intercollegiate Team Championships while Howard also competed in the Intercollegiate Singles Championship sponsored by the United States Bowling Congress in Las Vegas in April. UW-Whitewater wrapped up the 2022-23 campaign ranked 18th in the final NTCA poll while ranking sixth in the final Division II/III poll of the season.
