Women's Bowling

Bowlers Compete in LadyJack Classic

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team competed in the LadyJack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin State in Kenosha this weekend. The Warhawks finished 11th in the 16-team field. 

UW-Whitewater went 4-9 on the weekend with a total pinfall of 12,087, an average of 186.0 per game. 

UWW went into the the championship bracket Sunday seeded 13th. The Warhawks opened the day sweeping Lewis University with Baker wins of 220-171, 211-194, 194-189 and 229-180. 

The Warhawks advanced to defeat Marian University (WI) in a tighter series against the Sabres. UWW opened with a first game win, 179-149, before MU won a pair to take a lead in the match. The Warhawks took the next two, 179-167 and 204-180, to reclaim the advantage 3-2. The Sabres took game five before UWW secured the win with a 202-146 win to advance to the 11th place match. 

UW-Whitewater swept McKendree (225-181, 232-149, 213-186, 171-170) in their final game of the tournament to finish 11th. 

Individually, Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) was the top-finishing Warhawk. Her average of 201 was 23rd on the individual leaderboard in a field of 124 bowlers. 

Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt and Nebraska were the top three finishers in the tournament.
