The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's cross country teams had a great showing at the Ken Weidt Classic Saturday afternoon. The men finished first as the Warhawks swept the top three spots while the women were second with UW-W runners taking first and second.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) led all runners at the meet registering a time of 25:27.5, crossing the line just one-tenth of a second ahead of teammate
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion).
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) wrapped up the top three sweep with a time of 25:38.9.
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) and Dan Anderson finished back-to-back to post top 10 times. Allen's 26:07.4 was three-tenths faster than Anderson's time for seventh and eighth place respectively.
Nick Hardin (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) and Brandon Gang rounded out the top 20 finishers for the Warhawk men. The pair finished in 11th and 12th with times of 26:42.6 and 26:50.7 respectively.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) was the first to cross the finish line in the women's race registering a time of 23:34.0.
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) was just two seconds back to finish as the runner-up.
Katie Erb crossed the line in 24:19.8 for 12th to round out the top 20 finishers for the Warhawk women.
