Five University of Wisconsin-Whitewater teams are represented in the latest national rankings. This week's edition of Warhawks in the Rankings is presented by Whitewater Family Dentistry.
 
Women's Tennis
 
The Warhawks moved to No. 36 in the latest edition of the ITA Women's National Team Rankings.
 
UW-Whitewater (19-4 overall) won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team Tournament (presented by Culver's) on April 30, defeating UW-Stevens Point 7-0 at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville before topping UW-Eau Claire 5-1 in the title match at Lake Geneva Tennis. UW-W claimed its 14th straight bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Warhawks host the seven-team NCAA Whitewater Regional this week at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex. UW-W faces Illinois Tech in the first round Thursday at 9 a.m.
 
Men's Tennis
 
UW-Whitewater moved back into the ITA Men's National Team Rankings at No. 39 as it continues postseason play this week.
 
The Warhawks (21-2 overall) took home the program's first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship last Saturday with a 5-0 victory against East Division champion The College of New Jersey. UW-W, which won the West Division, punched a ticket to its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance over the last 15 seasons with the victory.
 
UW-Whitewater will head to Cleveland, Ohio, this week for the regional round of the NCAA Tournament at Case Western Reserve University. The Warhawks face the winner of the Kalamazoo/Nazareth in the second round Saturday at 11 a.m. Central Time.
 
Baseball
 
The Warhawks moved up two spots to No. 5 in both the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 and the Collegiate Baseball /American Baseball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Baseball Poll.
 
UW-Whitewater (33-6 overall, 25-3 WIAC) extended its nation-leading win streak to 18 games last week, including a four-game sweep at UW-Platteville to close the regular season on May 6-7. The team clinched the WIAC regular season championship for the fifth consecutive year and the 21st time in program history.  
 
The Warhawks will host the four-team, double-elimination WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) this week at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. UW-W, the No. 1 seed, will take on fourth-seeded UW-Oshkosh Thursday at 1 p.m.
 
Bowling
 
UW-Whitewater closes the 2021-22 campaign ranked third in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III Final Season Poll and 18th in the NTCA's final national ranking including all NCAA women's bowling programs.
 
The Warhawks finished the season with a 49-45 record playing one of the nation's most difficult schedules. Senior Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park), the NTCA Division III National Player of the Year, represented UW-W at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship on April 19, reaching the first round of the tournament.
 
Men's Track and Field
 
UW-Whitewater surged more than 20 spots to No. 20 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index after a strong performance at the WIAC Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver's) last week.
 
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) played an integral role in the Warhawks' fifth-place finish, placing among the top three in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run. Patzka's steeple time of 8:56.87 is the No. 2 personal record mark in program history and currently ranks second in NCAA Division III. He also currently ranks 15th in the 5,000-meter run with a 14:15.21.
 
Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.37, good for sixth in the nation. Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) moved into the nation's top 25 in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best 3:49.49, good for fifth place at the meet and 24th in Division III.
 
In field events, Brayden Zettle (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in the triple jump, posting a personal record distance of 48-00.50 (14.64 meters), good for 13th in NCAA Division III. Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) placed fourth with a season-best 47-10.00 (14.58 meters), good for 17th in the nation.
 
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) improved his career record in the hammer throw with a mark of 182-05 (55.60 meters), good for third place at the conference meet and 17th in NCAA Division III.
 
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished third in the 10,000-meter run and currently ranks 11th in the nation in the event (29:45.93). He is also 18th in the 5,000-meter run (14:18.13). Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) is 21st in the 10,000-meter run with a 29:57.41.
