Taylor Purgett (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
Purgett competed in traditional games at two tournaments earlier this season, placing 95th at the Hammer Bearcat Open on Oct. 22-24 and averaging a 204.5 in two games at the Warhawk Classic on Nov. 20-21. She finished 62nd out of 225 players earlier this month at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Singles Sectional Qualifier on March 11 in Addison, Ill., posting a score of 1,119 over six games for a 186.5 average.
During the shortened 2020-21 season, Purgett competed in 94 Baker and traditional frames in the UW-W lineup. She among the team's top five in traditional games at the Flyer Classic and the Warhawk Classic and was third on the team and 27th overall at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Sectional Qualifier.
In 2019-20, Purgett was a two-time Subway Athlete of the Week and the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Bowler of the Month for November 2019. She finished second in traditional games at the Warhawk Classic and 11th in traditional games at the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack Hammer Classic.
As a freshman in 2018-19, Purgett competed exclusively in USBC events.
A 2019-20 member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, Purgett is majoring in criminology and social work with a minor in finance. She earned a spot on UW-Whitewater's Dean's List in the spring of 2020.
