The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the two-day Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships (presented by Culver's) on Saturday at UW-Platteville.
The Warhawk men totaled 104 points to place fourth in the team standings, while the women collected 31 points to finish seventh overall.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Katie McNamara (Geneva, Ill./Geneva),
Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown),
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and
Sarah Niehueser (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran Academy) concluded the meet with an All-WIAC performance, placing third in a time of 4:03.58.
Other top-eight placers on the women's side included
Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), who recorded a career-best score of 3,170 in the pentathlon to finish fourth in the event, and
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee), who placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run with a personal record time of 10:27.02.
The men placed three each in the 3,000-meter run and the triple jump.
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) posted a season-best 8:16.29 to win top the field in the 3K.
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) also garnered all-conference accolades with his personal record 8:18.68, good for second place. Both times rank among the top 15 in the nation.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) joined Fassbender and Schlender on the podium with a fourth-place finish and a time of 8:24.56.
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) finished as runner-up in the triple jump, registering a season-best 47-09.25 (14.56 meters).
Curtis Pfeil (West Bend, Wis./West) placed fifth with a 46-04.00 (14.12 meters), and
Brayden Zettle (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) finished eighth with a 45-02.00 (13.77 meters).
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) claimed his first career WIAC individual championship, winning the weight throw with a toss of 60-02.00 (18.34 meters).
Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) and
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Keefover clocked a career-best time of 8.22 seconds, while Thomas was just behind, crossing the finish line in 8.25 seconds.
Jack McGinn (Madison, Wis./McFarland) moved up one spot on the second day of the pentathlon to finish sixth with a personal record score of 4,329.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) placed sixth in the high jump with his height of 6-04.75 (1.95 meters).
The Warhawks will head to last chance meets next weekend.
