The No. 22 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team posted a cumulative score of 5,165 in five traditional matches Saturday on the second day of the Big Red Invitational at Hollywood Bowl in Lincoln, Neb.
The Warhawks' two-day total score of 10,145, good for a 202.7 average, ranks fifth in the highly competitive tournament field.
UW-Whitewater posted a 1-4 record on the day with all four losses coming against teams ranked among the top 10 in the nation.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) paced the Warhawks in scoring with 1,090 in five games, good for 16th place out of 64 bowlers and a 218 average.
Taylor Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) rolled a 1,054 in five games, including a team-best game of 257, and placed 21st overall.
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) finished 24th with a 1,010 (202 avg.), while
Rebecca Howard (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) placed 26th with a 986 (197.20 avg.). Olivia Zinnani played four of the five games and totaled a 778, good for 35th place and a 194.50 average.
Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) bowled a game of 247 and finished 45th overall.
Competition resumes Sunday with best-of-seven Baker series.
