The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team finished ninth in the Motiv LadyJack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin in Kenosha over the weekend.
The Warhawks went 8-6 with four wins over ranked opponents in the tournament.
UWW opened the tournament with Baker matches registering a close 994-982 win over Arkansas State to start the day. The Warhawks followed with a 928-766 win over North Central (IL) before topping Carthage 1,003-779. UW-Whitewater dropped their final two matches on the day 973-880 to Newman University and 983-840 to Youngstown State.
Day two of competition featured traditional team games. UWW opened the day with a 911-986 loss to Maryville University. Match two saw eventual tournament champion McKendree top the Warhawks 1,182-837. UWW fell to Vanderbilt 922-961 before bouncing back with an 892-784 win over Valparaiso. The final match of the day was a thriller with UWW and SFA tying 1,017-1,017. The Warhawks won the rolloff 119-117.
UW-Whitewater wrapped up the competition with three more Baker matches. The Warhawks were edged by Nebraska by just four pins, 898-902 but bounced back with a 968-928 win over Lewis University. UWW defeated Vanderbilt 999-944 to finish ninth.
Kelly Whipple (Sheboygan, Wis./South) was the highest finishing Warhawk in the individual standings - placing among the top 30 with an average of 201.60 on the weekend.
The Warhawks have a few weeks off before returning to action the weekend of December 3.
