Valpo Classic Results
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater topped Maryville University in a pair of matches to win the Valpo Classic hosted by Valparaiso University Sunday.
The Warhawks held second after the first two days of competition to set up a first round meeting with the top-seeded Maryville to open championship Sunday that featured best-of-seven Baker matches. UWW took the first two games 234-215 and 231-142 with Maryville taking game three 166-202. The Warhawks widened the advantage by winning game four 221-180 but Maryville extended the match with a 204-226 game five win. UWW punched their ticket to the title match with a win in game six, 201-155.
Maryville defeated Lewis to work their way back to a championship match against the Warhawks.
The teams tradered wins in the first four games with the Warhawks winning the opener 220-173 and the third, 205-163. Maryville took game two 149-234 and evened the match with a win in game four, 171-191. UWW responded with a 202-170 win in game five and captured the championship with a 221-166 win in game six.

The Warhawks are 4-5 on the weekend but maintained second in the team standings by total pinfall.
Saturday's competition consisted of five traditional team games. UWW opened with a 926-870 win over Lewis before dropping their next three matches of the day by scores of 941-887 to Kentucky Wesleyan, 957-899 to Upper Iowa and 876-853 to Wright State. The Warhawks had a bye in the final round of play Saturday.
The bracket for championship Sunday has UW-Whitewater slated to face the leader Maryville University. The winner of that match automatically advances to the finals.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team is in second place after the first day of competition at the Valpo Bowling Classic. The tournament hosted by Valparaiso University features a 17-team field.
The first day of competition featured five baker matches. The Warhawks went 3-2 on the day posting a total pinfall of 4,920.
UW-Whitewater bounced back from a tight 969-984 loss to North Central College in the opener with a hefty 1,142-768 win over Valpo in match two. UWW followed with a 968-706 win over Dominican before falling to tournament leader Maryville 948-1,060. The Warhawks closed the day with an 893-784 win over Aurora University.
Competition continues Saturday with five traditional team games.
