The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team went 3-1 on the second day of the Warhawk Classic to finish as the runner-up in the eight-team field.
The Warhawks opened day two of the tournament, which consisted of four Baker matches, with a 916-863 win over Marian University. UWW edged Carthage in the second round 864-845 before taking down Carroll 993-756 to set up the final Baker match of the day.
In the position round, the Warhawks met Carthage and the Firebirds came away with the 922-875 win.
Carthage won the Warhawk Classic with a 7-2 record and total pinfall of 8,195. UWW came in second going 6-3 at the tournament with a total pinfall of 8,147. Marian, Augustana, Elmhurst, North Central, Carroll and Dominican rounded out the leaderboard in order.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team is in second place after going 3-2 on the first day of competition in the Warhawk Classic at Rock River Lanes in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
The first day of competition consisted of five traditional team matches. The first four opponents were set heading into the tournament with the final match of the day determined by position following the first four matches.
The Warhawks bounced back from a close 859-874 loss to Augustana in the first match of the day with a hefty 934-765 rout of Dominican. UWW continued to roll taking down Elmhurst 902-778 in the third match of the day. The Warhawks registered their largest win of the day with a 870-788 win over North Central to set up the final match of the day in the position round.
A tough loss to a ranked Marian squad, 979-834, wrapped up Saturday's competition. UWW is 3-2 and currently in second on the team leaderboard after the first day of competition.
Marian University is the top team heading into day two with a total pinfall of 4,532 followed by UWW's 4,499. Carthage, Augustana, North Central, Elmhurst, Carroll and Dominican round out the leaderboard in order.
Individually, UW-Whitewater's Skye Faar leads all bowlers with a total pinfall of 975, an average of 195 per game.
Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) holds fourth averaging 189.2 per game.
Kelly Whipple (Sheboygan, Wis./South) (887) and
Rebecca Howard (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) (874) are among the top 20. Zoey Darwin posted a total pinfall of 484 in three games while Cheyenne Tuft and
Alyssa Lang (Palos Heights, Ill./Marist) split the final two matches for the Warhawks.
The Warhawk Classic is slated to conclude Sunday with five Baker games.
