The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in their final home meet of the 2021-22 season Saturday as they hosted Lake Forest (Ill.) and Lawrence for a non-conference tri-meet at the Williams Center.
 
The Warhawk men topped Lawrence by a 167-76 score and defeated Lake Forest by a 156-70 margin. The women tallied a 172-92 victory against Lawrence and were edged 144-120 by Lake Forest.
 
Joe Wenszell (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Virtual Learning) and Hunter Hayberger (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) each placed first in two events. Wenszell swept the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events with times of 55.63 and 2:00.86, respectively. Hayberger claimed the 100-yard freestyle in 49.68 seconds and the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:45.68.
 
Tyler Popke (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) won the 100-yard breaststroke on his Senior Day with a mark of 1:00.80. Donny Gramer (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) touched the wall in 2:19.01 in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn a victory in the event.
 
UW-W swept the butterfly events as Ethan Coons (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) earned first place in the 100 in 54.81 and Jalen Stimes (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) won the 200 in 2:06.65.
 
Zach Miller (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington), who was also recognized on Senior Day with Popke, claimed the 50-yard freestyle in 22.84 seconds. Anthony Mrozowski (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) took the 200-yard freestyle with his result of 1:51.11.
 
Gramer, Hayberger, Mrozowski and Miller combined for a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, tallying a time of 1:30.12. Wenszell, Popke, Coons and Gramer took the 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.72.
 
Jaclyn Fohlmeister (Lakemoor, Ill./Wauconda), Abby Thompson (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) and Anna Yeazel (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) were recognized on Senior Day on the women's side. Yeazel won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.99 and placed third in the 500-yard freestyle, and Thompson led the Warhawks and finished among the top three in both butterfly events. Fohlmeister placed sixth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle.
 
Four other UW-Whitewater swimmers claimed individual events. Gianna Gnewuch (Madison, Wis./Verona Area) touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:15.86, while Gabby Sponseller (Goshen, Ind./Concord) took the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.26.
 
Emily Connell (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in 57.15 seconds, and Brianna Zimdars (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) registered a time of 11:44.29 in the 1,000-yard freestyle emerge victorious in the event.
 
UW-Whitewater closes the regular season with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet next Saturday, Jan. 29, at UW-Eau Claire. Events begin at 1 p.m.
