Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday to earn All-America honors for the first time in his career at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, N.C.
Patzka finished the race in a time of 9:18.92, just over one second out of fifth place. He was seeded 10th in the field heading into competition.
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) advanced to Saturday's finals in the 100-meter dash with a personal-record time of 10.56 second in Friday's prelims. Ford will seek his first All-America medal in the event.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) competed in the high jump earlier in the day and placed 15th with a height of 6-03.50 (1.92 meters).
The Warhawks begin Saturday's competition at 9:30 a.m. Central Time as Shelvin Garrett and
Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby) compete in the triple jump. Ford will run the 100-meter dash final at 12:40 p.m., and
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) will race in the 5,000-meter run at 2:25 p.m.
