The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track team excelled at its final home meet of the 2026 outdoor track season. The Warhawks improved their standings & seedings before heading into the conference championship week.
In the 100m, the Warhawks had 6 qualifiers finishing in the top spots to move to the finals.
Sam Vargas (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) set a new personal-best, taking the top spot in qualifiers with a 10.45.
Kayden Baumgart (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) followed with a 10.72, the second fastest of the prelims.
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) also had a personal best at 10.75,
Ayodele Bateye (Saint Charles, Ill./North) matched the mark with a 10.75 himself.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) & Tryasen Thomason rounded out the top six Warhawk sprinters. Bojar timed in at 10.82 for a season best, with Thomason at 10.85 for a personal best.
In the finals of the 100, Bateye claimed the top mark with a new personal best at 10.69. Bojar placed third in the finals with a 10.79, & Thomason improved on his prelim time with a 10.82.
In the 110m hurdles,
Kaiden Porep (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) qualified with a prelim time of 15.29, Porep placed 5th overall in the event with a 15.44 in the finals.
In the 200m,
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) set a season best, claiming the top time with a 21.46.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) &
Traysen Thomason (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) also placed in the top five, both with personal bests. Bojar finished second overall with a 21.62, and Thomason was at 22.31.
The Warhawks also had the top mark in the men's 400m,
Gabe Ubert (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) took the top time with a new personal best at 48.72.
James Williams (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) also had a personal best at 49.68, the 3rd fastest time at the meet.
In the 400 hurdles,
Jack Erickson (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) set the 25th fastest time in DIII this season, placing first overall with a 53.68.
Wes Olsson (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) also placed in the top-5 with a 56.97, the third fastest time of the day.
Heading to the distance events, the Warhawks continued their impressive day.
Colin Lewandowski (Elmhurst, Ill./York) placed 3rd in the 800m with a 1:54.30.
Jonah Block (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) had the fifth best time at 4:01.87 in the 1500m, & Conner Murphy had the third fastest 5000m time at 15:48.34.
In the field events,
Connor Fontaine (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) excelled in the discus throw, tossing a 46.28m on his last two throws of the event. Fontaine placed 5th overall in the discus.
Jordan Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) placed 4th overall with a personal best in the shot put at 15.08m.
In the javelin, the Warhawks had the second and third-best marks.
Landon Scray (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) was 2nd with a 49.30m toss & Vargas marked at 44.72m.
In the high jump,
Jer'Von Anderson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) set a new season best, reaching the 2.03m bar for the 19th best mark in DIII this season.
Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) set a new personal best by surpassing the 1.98m bar.
For the horizontal jumps,
Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North) won the long jump with a season-best 7.00m leap.
Both the men's 4x100 & 4x400 realy teams topped the podium. The 4x100 of
Traysen Thomason (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater),
Kayden Baumgart (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb),
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee), &
Ayodele Bateye (Saint Charles, Ill./North) timed in at 41.05 for the best time. In the 4x400, Ben Heller,
Ryan Bintz (De Pere, Wis./De Pere),
James Belus (Oconomowoc, Wis./) &
Drew Davey (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn), timed in at 3:20.76.
The Warhawks head up to UW-La Crosse for the WIAC Outdoor championship next weekend, May 1st & 2nd.
