Track & Field Hosts Rex Foster Twilight

Warhawks open outdoor season on rainy Friday

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's & women's track & field team hosted their first outdoor home meet of the season with the Rex Foster Twlight on a rainy Friday. 

The women's sprinters showcased strong performances in several events. Stennett led the team in the women's 100 meters, securing first place in both the preliminaries and finals with times of 12.22 and 12.19, respectively. Her time of 12.19 places her among the top 20 in Division III this season. Zari Dorris (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) followed closely behind, claiming second place in both rounds with times of 12.50 and 12.67. In the women's 200 meters, Huerta took the top spot with a time of 24.69. Hannah-Wahl Bilodeau placed first in the women's 400 meters with a time of 59.35

The men sprinters also had a great showing, excelling in the men's 200 meters, securing the top three spots. Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) claimed first place with a time of 21.58, followed closely by Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) at 22.37 and Traysen Thomason (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) at 22.67. In the 100m, Ayodele Bateye (Saint Charles, Ill./North) finished fourth in the Men's 100 Meters finals, clocking in at 10.86. Kalies also took fifth in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 51.17.  

In the men's 110 hurdles, Kaiden Porep (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) finished second in the finals with a time of 15.43, while Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) captured third place with a time of 16.17.

The women's 4x400 relay team, consisting of Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), Emma Shingledecker (New Berlin, Wis./West), Lily Watson (Kiel, Wis./Kiel), and Addi Kowalewski (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), finished first, clocking in at 4:43.37. The men's 4x400 relay team also performed well, with the A squad of Drew Davey (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn), Matt Andreano, James Belus (Oconomowoc, Wis./), and Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) winning the event in 3:31.07.

In the distance and mid-distance races, the Warhawks had a strong showing on the podium. Drew Davey (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) finished third in the Men's 1500 Meters with a time of 4:06.21. Keegan Bratt (Waukesha, Wis./West) claimed second in the Men's 3000 Steeplechase, clocking in at 9:22.30. Bratt's impressive performance ranks 12th in Division III for the season. In the Men's 800 Meters, Matt Andreano placed seventh with a time of 2:00.49, followed closely by Ryan Van Dam (Glen Ellen, Ill./Glenbard East) in eighth at 2:00.94.  

In the Women's 800 Meters, Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) placed second with a time of 2:26.86. For the Women's 1500 Meters, Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) captured second place at 4:47.06. In the Women's 3000 Steeplechase, Brielle Scoles (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum) finished fifth with a time of 12:44.83.

Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) had three top-five finishes in the throwing events. Czarnecki won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 46.32 meters and placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 38.21 meters and fifth in the Women's Shot Put with a mark of 11.79m. Mykenna Gray (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) placed third in the discus with a throw of 38.86m.

In the men's throws, Connor Fontaine (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) achieved second place in the Men's Discus with a mark of 49.96m. Landon Scray (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) took second place in the Men's Javelin with a throw of 49.03m.  

Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) won the Women's High Jump with a mark of 1.57m. Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest) took first place in the Women's Pole Vault, clearing 3.32m. Emily Mohs (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) claimed first in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 10.34m.

In the men's high jump, Daniel Nickel (Marshall, Wis./Marshall) achieved a mark of 2.01 meters to earn first place, while Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) and Landon Scray (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) tied for second with identical jumps of 1.91 meters. Nickel's high jump performance ranks 12th in Division III this season.  Jackson Koppen (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) placed third in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 6.36m. Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North) secured third in the Men's Triple Jump with a distance of 13.38m.  

The Warhawks track & field teams will head to Platteville next weekend for the UW-Platteville Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Friday, April 10th & Saturday, April 11th.
