Three University of Wisconsin-Whitewater teams are represented in national rankings this week.
Men's Track and Field
The Warhawks are 15th in the fourth United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Rating Index of the 2021 season.
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) and
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) each posted top-20 national times in the 100-meter dash at last weekend's Warhawk Invitational and Multi. Ford posted a career-best 10.58 seconds and is currently third in NCAA Division III.
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) matched his personal record with a mark of 10.76, good for 17th overall.
Ford and Rinaldi were also part of UW-Whitewater's 4x100-meter relay, which improved its season-best time to 41.90 seconds, good for 11th in Division III.
Thomas Kelly (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer) and
Griffin Gawenda (Grayslake, Ill./North) are also part of the relay squad.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) ranks third in the nation in the high jump with his career-best height of 6-09.75 (2.08 meters).
Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) and
Jack Scully (Oshkosh, Wis./West) each rank among the top 15 in the country in the pole vault with season-best heights of 15-08.25 (4.78 meters) and 15-05.00 (4.70 meters), respectively.
Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby) is 13th in the triple jump with his distance of 46-10.75 (14.29 meters), and
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) is 16th in the hammer throw with his personal record toss of 176-04 (53.76 meters).
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) is also among the nation's best, ranking 18th in the 5,000-meter run with his time of 14:40.17.
The Warhawks host the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet this Saturday at Rex Foster Track. The 10,000-meter run will take place Friday night.
Baseball
The Warhawks surged five spots to No. 8 in the latest D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 following a second consecutive 4-0 week.
UW-Whitewater (18-3 overall, 12-2 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) registered two wins at UW-Platteville and two more at home against the Pioneers. The pitching staff held UW-P to three runs or fewer in each contest.
The Warhawks started this week Tuesday by splitting a doubleheader at UW-Stevens Point. UW-W hosts the Pointers for two more conference games this Friday starting at 1 p.m. at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium and wraps up the week Saturday with two non-conference games at UW-Stevens Point.
Bowling
The Warhawks remained at No. 23 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association's April Poll. The team is sixth in the NTCA's final Division II/III poll of the 2020-21 season.
UW-Whitewater qualified over the weekend for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships by placing fourth at the Addison (Ill.) Sectional. The Warhawks were in fifth place after the second day but made up a deficit of more than 130 pins on the final day of competition.
The Intercollegiate Team Championships are scheduled for May 5-8 in Wyoming, Mich.
