Morgan Wardall (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team has earned second team All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for her performance during the 2021 season.
Wardall, a middle hitter, helped the Warhawks reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The team posted a 27-3 record after finishing second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season standings and postseason tournament.
Wardall currently ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.350) and fifth in blocks (82 / 0.85 per set), and added 199 kills (2.07 per set) and 44 digs.. Her performance up front helped UW-Whitewater rank among the top 10 in the nation in blocks per set and total blocks entering this weekend's NCAA Championship.
Wardall recorded some of her top performances of the season against the nation's best. She tallied a season-high 12 kills on a .478 hitting percentage in the Warhawks' 3-2 win against Chicago, a fellow NCAA qualifier, on Sept. 1. Ten days later, she collected a season-best eight blocks to go along with 10 kills in a victory against NCAA qualifier Bethel (Minn.).
In UW-W's NCAA first round triumph against Ithaca (N.Y.), Wardall totaled 11 kills on a .412 hitting percentage. She finished with eight kills, four digs and two blocks at eventual national quarterfinalist UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Tournament final on Nov. 6.
Wardall was named to All-Tournament Teams at the Carthage Invitational (Sept. 11), the UW-Whitewater Triangular (Sept. 18) and the UW-Whitewater Invitational (Sept. 24-25).
