The No. 21 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team continued its strong play at the MOTIV Ladyjack Classic Saturday, posting two more victories over ranked opponents during traditional matches at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wis.
The Warhawks were defeated by Lewis, No. 1 Nebraska and No. 4 Vanderbilt before closing the day with victories against No. 3 Arkansas State and No. 11 Duquesne.
UW-Whitewater concluded the day with a score of 9,640, good for a 192.8 average.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) led the Warhawks with a 1,085 in five games, good for a 217 average and including a team-best game of 236. She placed fifth overall out of 118 players at the tournament.
Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) tallied a 1,019 for a 203.8 average and finished 24th overall, while
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) placed 29th with a 989, good for a 197.8 average.
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) totaled a 928 over five games for a 185.6 average and finished 38th overall.
Olivia Zinanni (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) registered a 583 over three games (194.33 avg.) to place 61st.
Taylor Purgett (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) and
Taylor Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) rolled single games of 144 and 143, respectively, to finish among the top 100.
Best-of-seven Baker bracket play commences Sunday morning. UW-Whitewater will face No. 15 Maryville in its first match.
