The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team placed among the top four in all four doubles flights Friday at the Warhawk Fall Invitational at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex and surrounding facilities.
The Warhawks also own seven spots in the singles semifinals, which will take place Saturday.
Six of the eight teams at the tournament are from schools that offer athletic scholarships.
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) and
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) finished with a 2-1 record at No. 3 doubles, placing second in the bracket after victories against Roosevelt and Carleton and a loss in the final against Lewis.
MacKenzie Lindow (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) and
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) earned a spot in the final of the No. 4 doubles draw after a win against Lewis. The duo was topped by Carleton (Minn.) in the championship match.
Kasey Schlicht (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and
Zenia Barretto (Dubai, United Arab Emirates/Gems Wellington International School) placed third in the same bracket with a 2-1 record, earning wins against St. Francis (Ill.) and Lewis.
Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and
Kellie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) finished fourth at No. 2 doubles, and All-Americans
Autumn Bruno (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield Whitnall) and
Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) placed fourth at No. 1 doubles.
Singles semifinalists include Nikoleit in the No. 3 draw, Kraft at No. 4, Ha at No. 5, Barretto and Rueth at No. 6,
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) at No. 7 and Lindow at No. 8.
Bruno and Lee will compete in the consolation semifinals at the Nos. 1 and 2 flights, respectively.
Tournament play continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
