Results
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams competed Friday at North Central's F. Lee Slick Invitational in Naperville, Ill., in their final tune-up prior to next week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
The Warhawk men finished first with 185.5 team points, while the women placed third with 93.5 points.
For the men, the distance medley relay team of freshman
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee), senior
Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon), freshman
Andrew Lohse (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) and junior
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) placed second in a time of 10:05.51, which currently ranks among the top five in NCAA Division III.
Sophomore
Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) registered a career-record time of 8.23 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdles. His performance currently ranks among the top 20 in the nation.
Junior
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) topped a field of 12 throwers in the weight throw, posting a distance of 57-02.25 (17.43 meters). He currently ranks among the top 15 in the nation in the event. Junior
Griffin Gawenda (Grayslake, Ill./North) won the long jump with a 22-05.75 (6.85 meters), his second-best performance of the season.
The Warhawks finished 1-2-3 in the 60-meter dash. Junior
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) tied his career record with a 6.94, which ranks among the top 20 in Division III. Sophomore
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) also broke seven seconds with a personal-best 6.99 for a runner-up finish, and senior
Oren Henderson-Zintz (Madison, Wis./La Follette) placed third with a 7.07.
Rinaldi later won the 200-meter dash in 22.59 seconds, and was followed closely by Henderson-Zintz, who finished third in 22.75.
Seniors
Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) and
Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) each recorded season bests in the pole vault. Jasinski placed first with a height of 16-04.50 (4.99 meters), which ranks fourth in the nation, and Schommer cleared a personal-best 15-10.50 (4.84 meters), which ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division III.
Junior
Brian Kuehl (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) and senior
Clinten Woerishofer (Appleton, Wis./North) topped the field in the 800-meter run. Kuehl crossed the finish line first in a season-best 1:56.65, and Woerishofer was just behind in second with a 1:57.99.
Freshman
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) tallied a career-best height of 6-06.00 (1.98 meters) in the high jump, good for second place in the event. Freshman
Will Kaashagen (Cambridge, Wis./Cambridge) placed second in the 400-meter dash with a 51.71.
For the women, junior
Jessie Braun (Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine) topped a field of 25 runners in the 1-mile run with a personal-record 5:18.24. UW-Whitewater went 1-2-3 in the 400-meter dash, as freshman
Sarah Niehueser (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran Academy) won in 1:01.09, senior
Alissa Korslin (Vesper, Wis./Pittsville) placed second in 1:01.78 and freshman
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished third in 1:01.94.
Seniors
Elizabeth Schad (Milwaukee, Wis./Cedarburg) and
Ally Bachara (Fox Lake, Ill./Grant) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the shot put. Both recorded personal record marks – Schad posted a toss of 39-00.50 (11.90 meters), and Bachara collected a 38-07.00 (11.76 meters).
Sophomore
Sydney Rossow (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.18 seconds after recording a 9.13 in the preliminary. Sophomore
Kailey Reynolds (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) earned fourth place in the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 7.93 seconds.
Junior
Sydney Davidson (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) collected a height of 11-02.25 (3.41 meters) in the pole vault, good for third place. Junior
Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) placed third in the long jump with a 17-07.50 (5.37 meters). She currently ranks among the top 20 in the nation in the event.
The WIAC Indoor Championships begin Friday, Feb. 28, at 11:30 a.m. in Oshkosh.
