The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team placed eighth Saturday at the Warhawk Classic Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse.
 
The Warhawks scored 30.50 points, only one-half point shy of Monmouth (Ill.).
 
Junior Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) finished as runner-up in the long jump with a season-best distance of 18-01.75 (5.53 meters), good for a top 15 mark in NCAA Division III.
 
Freshman Miranda Reynolds (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) tallied a season-best 5-04.25 (1.63 meters) on high jump to finish second overall and move into the top 25 in the nation in the event.
 
Other individual scorers included sophomore Kailey Reynolds (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater), senior Madi McDonald (Brookfield, Wis./East) and senior Baily Hornstein (Elk Grove, Ill./James B. Conant). Reynolds placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.91 seconds, McDonald tied for fourth in pole vault with a height of 10-09.50 (3.29 meters) and Hornstein tied for eighth with a 10-09.50 (3.29 meters).
 
Freshman Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished ninth in the 800-meter run at 2:23.57, and sophomore Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) tallied 2,724 points in the pentathlon to place ninth.
 
The Warhawks head to the Pointer Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 8.
