Men Fourth, Women Seventh at WIAC Outdoor Meet

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition Saturday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver's) at UW-Platteville.
 
The Warhawk men totaled 104.50 points to finish fourth overall, fewer than 10 points out of second. The women amassed 44.50 points, good for seventh.
 
Junior Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) claimed his second conference title and first in the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.27, which currently leads NCAA Division III. Freshman Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) earned All-WIAC honors with his third-place finish in a time of 14.94.
 
Sophomore Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) finished as runner-up in the 100-meter dash by only seven-thousandths of a second, registering a personal record result of 10.67 seconds. Freshman Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) finished seventh in a career-best 10.76 seconds.
 
Rinaldi, Ford, junior Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) and sophomore Tyreik Thomas (Racine, Wis./Case) combined for a season-best 41.39 in the 4x100-meter relay, good for a top 10 time in the nation and for an all-conference finish of third place.
 
The men's trio of senior Dylan Ferger (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Turner), freshman Atty Wagner (Shawano, Wis./Shawano) and sophomore Quinn Halversen (Rockford, Ill./Christian) finished 3-4-5 in the high jump. Ferger earned an All-WIAC medal with his height of 6-07.00 (2.01 meters), Wagner posted a height of 6-05.00 (1.96 meters) and Halversen tied for fifth place at 6-03.25 (1.91 meters).
 
Senior Tanner Stephens (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) tallied a personal record in the triple jump with a 46-09.50 (14.26 meters), good for an All-WIAC finish of third place. Sophomore Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby) also posted the top mark of his career in the event with a 46-04.00 (14.12 meters), good for fifth place.
 
Sophomore Landon Zimmerman (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 52-01.00 (15.87 meters). Duff finished off his fantastic weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.16 seconds. Keefover placed sixth with a 56.89.
 
Sophomore David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished a strong weekend with a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, posting a 15:10.70. Junior Greg Hatzinger (Marshall, Wis./Marshall) earned a team point with his eighth-place finish in the decathlon, finishing with a score of 5581.
  
Junior Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and sophomore Megan Hering (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) each repeated season-best performances Saturday in the 400-meter dash final. Felton finished second by six-thousandths of a second with a result of 56.19, which ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division III. Hering recorded a career-best 58.88, good for seventh place.
 
Felton added a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 25.66 seconds.
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), Felton, senior Jordan Tokarski (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) and freshman Kailey Reynolds (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) earned a season-best result of 48.68, good for fifth place.
 
Freshman Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown), junior Ashley Tijerina (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago), Hering and Felton combined for a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best result of 4:00.19.
 
Sophomore Emery Podowicz (Clifton, Ill./Central) moved up one spot from the preliminary in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:05.63, good for a personal record and sixth place in the race. Sophomore Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) placed sixth in the heptathlon with a score of 3981, her best of the season.
 
The Warhawks visit North Central (Ill.) for the Dr. Keeler Invitational and UW-La Crosse for the Eagle Open Friday.
