Track and Field Teams Compete in Drake Alternative

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams hosted the annual Drake Alternative Meet Friday at Rex Foster Track.
 
On the men's side, junior Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) won the 110-meter hurdles and improved his season-best time in the event. He tallied a 14.48 in the prelims, good for a top 10 mark in NCAA Division III. Freshman Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) entered the nation's top 20 with a 14.74.
 
Senior Dylan Ferger (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Turner) entered the top 10 in the nation in the high jump with a season-best height of 6-09.00 (2.06 meters).
 
Sophomore Tyreik Thomas (Racine, Wis./Case) and freshman Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) claimed the 100- and 200-meter dash events, respectively. Thomas posted a time of 10.92 in the final after a 10.90 in the prelim, and Rinaldi finished the 200 in 22.21 seconds.
 
UW-Whitewater swept the relay events, taking the 4x100-meter relay in 41.61 seconds with a combination of Rinaldi, sophomore Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case), junior Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) and Thomas. The team of junior Alec Masters (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington), freshman Josiah Vogel (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Christian), Keefover and Duff finished the 4x400-meter relay in 3:25.10.
 
Junior Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) matched his outdoor season-best height to win the pole vault at 11-03.00 (4.65 meters). Sophomore Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby) placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 45-06.50 (13.88 meters).
 
Junior Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led the women, claiming the 400-meter dash in 58.39 seconds and helping the team sweep the relay events. She joined sophomore Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), senior Jordan Tokarski (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) and freshman Kailey Reynolds (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) to win the 4x100-meter relay in 49.34 seconds, and combined with freshman Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown), sophomore Megan Hering (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and junior Alissa Korslin (Vesper, Wis./Pittsville) to take the 4x400-meter relay in 4:09.23.
 
Junior Madi McDonald (Brookfield, Wis./East) and sophomore Sydney Davidson (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) tied for first in the pole vault with a matching height of 11-03.00 (3.43 meters).
 
The Warhawks head to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at UW-Platteville.
