The No. 10 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team finished fourth at the 12-team Warhawk Classic at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes in Madison.
The Warhawks finished the tournament with a 10-3 record and a pinfall of 11,988 for an average of 181.5.
UW-Whitewater opened play Sunday with a 912-901 victory over Lewis to clinch the fourth seed in Baker bracket play. Sophomore
Taylor Purgett (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) posted a tournament-best 237 to round out her weekend with a 206 average in six traditional games. She finished as runner-up in the field of 84 bowlers to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team by virtue of her top-five finish.
Junior
Peyton Attig (Oak Lawn, Ill./Harold L. Richards) placed 12th with a 191.33 average, and sophomore
Gaby Silva (Lindenhurst, Ill./Grayslake North) finished 14th with a 188.83.
Senior Kaylee Tubbs bowled five of the six traditional games and finished with an average of 169.20 to place 44th overall. Sophomore
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) rolled a 190 average in three games, good for 56th, and junior
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) collected a 168.67 average over three games to finish 61st. Sophomore
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) tallied a 140 in her lone traditional game to place 78th.
The Warhawks were defeated in five games to start bracket play by No. 18 Maryville. In its final contest of the day against No. 13 Lincoln Memorial, the team was bested in six games.
UW-Whitewater remains in Wisconsin for next weekend's SFA Ladyjack Hammer Classic on Nov. 15-17. The tournament, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, will take place at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha.
